School of Thought: Existentialism | Hri-Write

Existentialism is a philosophical school of thought that deals with human existence, trying to explain the purpose of a human life. Existentialism, like many other schools of thought, is of course only a speculation and something we made up, take what you read here with a pinch of salt ( after all, I don't know any more about life than you do! ) If I were to try to explain existentialism easily, I'm afraid I'll lose out on its intricacies, but I'll give it a shot anyway. Existentialism, at its most fundamental level, says that every person is responsible for defining their own purpose in this world and that we are governed by our free will. Existentialism says that we are not here to 'find purpose', but rather to 'create our reality and purpose'. It sounds simple, but that's because I've tried to break down roughly a few centuries worth of study and philosophical evolution into four sentences. Existentialism originated as a school o

How to deal with challenges/failure

For you, I don't know what it is, but if you have a problem in your life, a challenge that you feel you can't overcome, learn to deal with it. It will not disappear on its own. You won't sleep one night and wake up the next day without it being there.
The sooner you deal with it, the sooner you get to your rewards, baby!. Deal with the fact that you are a procrastinator. Deal with the fact that you have anxiety. Deal with the fact that you're overwhelmed by your success, deal with the fact that it's hard for you to execute. It's not the end of the world, deal with it. - Eric Thomas
I could have been writing this blog two years ago,  but because I didn't believe in myself, and I let people's opinions control my destiny, I didn't act on my ideas.

Not only is it important for you to chase your dream, it's necessary you associate yourself with greatness, and not people who aren't striving, who aren't growing, who have become lazy, it's necessary you get people who have stopped dreaming, who don't want anything out of your life.
Most people have at least one of two fears; the fear of failure, 'what if things don't work out?', or the fear of success, 'what if they do, and I can't handle it?' Most people get comfortable, they stop growing, they stop stretching, they stop working on themselves. - Les Brown
The next step, is to realise that nobody can do this for you. Even if nobody believes in you, it only takes you believing in yourself to get this thing done. I know you've faced failure, disappointment, setbacks, you must understand that greatness perseveres. You are going to incur a lot of defeat, but in the process of doing that you will learn a lot of things about yourself that you don't know right now.

I want to share something with you that changed my life. Sometimes, when you've given your 100% and still failed, you've got to pick yourself up. I know it's hard, it's necessary to know that champions keep going when they've got NOTHING left in their tank. When they're tired, when they can't take it anymore. When it's over, when they're frustrated, when they've depleted their energy, that's when it's showtime! That's when doors start opening, when opportunities start to show up.
Pain is temporary, it may last for a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year. Eventually it will subside. If I quit however, it will last forever.
Most of you say you want to be successful, but you just 'kinda' want it. You don't want it more than you want to party, or be cool, and some of you don't even want it more than you want to sleep! Your talent will take you to places that your work ethic can't keep you. Time doesn't wait for anyone. Every second you waste, somebody out there is working for your spot in life. You're not the only one who wants to go to Harvard, you're not the only one who wants to go to Columbia, you're not the only who wants to be in the NBA. Somebody out there wants YOUR SPOT. Every breathing second, somebody out there is getting better to take your spot. So what sacrifices are you willing to make? I ask you to be embody excellence 24/7. Give 110% EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! - Stallone,  Rocky
I'll be quoting my favourite motivational speaker, Eric Thomas here. You are a gazelle. You need something to motivate you. What happens to the gazelle when the Lion ain't chasing her? Well what happens, is nothing. She stops running, why? She always need something external to motivate her.
I'm not the best, I'm not the brightest, but you will not outwork me. You will not have more drive than I have, more passion than I have. You won't wake up early cause you're spoiled. Are you hearing me? You might be smarter but you will not outwork me. I will beat you everyday because I got passion. - Eric Thomas
I'm telling you from personal experience, failure is inevitable. Trust me, you will never fail at the level that I did. I've failed at almost everything I've ever tried in my life. There are some things you can't get, they aren't gonna come to you. You got to be hungry. You got to go out there and claim it! It's not gonna happen with you in bed thinking about it. It's not gonna happen with you in the shower dreaming about it.

You deserve to be a millionaire, you deserve to roam the world, you deserve to live the life you wanna live. All roads to success, you gotta go through the pain. And when you're hurting, remind yourself, if it was easy, everybody would do it! Stop looking at pain as if it's something negative. I remember saying this to one of my friends, 'When you change the way you look at things, the things you're looking at change.' If you look at things negatively, you will have a negative outcome.

Embrace the challenge. Change your mindset. This is your decade.

I'mma show you how great I am! - Ali

Where is all the 'alien life?' - Fermi Paradox and other theories

My first blog, ever, was about understanding the odds of alien life. I've gotten much better at writing blogs since then (or so I like to tell myself), and it would only be right if I reinstate the legacy of that one. We should openly admit that when we happen to be under a starry night and see a sight similar to this, we all have a react in a different and interesting way. Some people are left boggled by the immense size of the universe, others by the sheer glamour of the scene and if you're anything like me, you're paralysed by the sudden realisation that you have a negligible impact on the universe. The point is, we all feel something . When he looked up at the sky, Italian physicist Enrico Fermi too felt something, a thought that lingered around this question, "Where is everyone else?" It's been half a decade since Fermi passed on, but he left us with a fundamental query and idea. Fermi realised that in a universe as old and vast as this, there s

Why your digital footprint matters

Every second you spend on the Internet, you're actively involved in painting a digital picture of yourself. This portrait helps companies target content at specific markets and consumers, helps employers look into your background, and helps advertisers track your movements across multiple websites. Whatever you do online, you might be leaving digital footprints behind. ( http://www.internetsociety.org/your-digital-footprint-matters ) In short, your digital footprint is everything you do online. Social media activity, app usage, email records. Watching videos, visiting adult sites, using certain plugins, everything goes into this piece of art. Whether you like it or not, everything you do on the web can be tracked. A lot of people seem to think that using incognito features on browsers or routers does any good. It might hide data locally (on your system) but it does nothing to completely hide your presence on the web. A diagram of how your internet works The abov
